USD494 million of timber and timber product exports in January 2015
(VOV) – The value of exports of timber and timber products during January 2015, estimated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam, is USD494 million, 8.2% lower compared to that of same period in 2014. On the other hand, the value of imports of timber and timber products reached USD170 million, 8.6% higher than that of the same period last year. In particular, the imports from Laos accounted for 26.9% and United States of America and Cambodia accounted for 11.5% and 11.3% respectively.

Recent capacity assessment on TLAS implementation in Ha Tinh Province
(HUSTA) –Recently, Sustainable Rural Development Centre (SRD) and its local partners have conducted an assessment on capacity of forest-dependent communities to meet current regulations on timber legality in the context of building the Timber Legality Assurance System (TLAS ) in Huong Vinh Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province. The assessment is to provide the information to build up the project on capacity building for civil society and communities in independent forest monitoring once the TLAS is implemented in Ha Tinh Province.
